I have been photographing weddings for over ten years. (Wow! I can’t believe I just typed that.) And like any girl, I love a good pair of shoes. Wedding shoes can come in many shapes and designs. Some brides look for something simple and practical, others like them covered in sparkle and with three-inch heels. But, never once have a photographed a wedding where the bride wasn’t 100% in love with her shoes! She is always super excited to get them out of the box and ready for their close up. Brides (and sometimes grooms) spend many hours, sometimes days, looking for the picture-perfect pair. They pin away on Pinterest finding the latest trend, or browse local stores and wedding boutiques for that flawless pair.
Today, I went back into the archives at Shilliday Photography and found some of my favorites shoe photographs. Enjoy, and don’t have to much shoe envy over those Badgley Mischka’s.
This metallic silver pair with a kitten heel is perfect for a bride that wants something closed toed in those cooler months.
If you can’t find anything you like, don’t forget to check Etsy. This bride had her wedding day shoes custom made by an artist selling on the internet crafter site. She definitely got her Happily Ever After.
The same bride wore both these blue wedges and lace flats to her beach wedding. Why choose one pair, when you can have two!
Your wedding shoes are a great way to show off your “something blue”.
This bride and groom love ice hockey. I grabbed a few photos of them lacing up their practice skates during their hockey themed engagement session.
Every barn wedding needs a good pair of cowboy boots!
In my mind, converse will never go out of style. Especially for those littlest members of the bridal party.
Unique or traditional, you will most likely keep your wedding shoes for some time. Display them in your closet, and break them out for a fun dinner with your spouse. Remember, they are the perfect pair, just like you and your partner.
Is there a story behind your wedding shoes? I would love to hear it!
